Changing our behaviors through God’s love.
I saw a video today of a shelter dog. He was shaking and cowering-scared of everyone and everything. ( I have to be careful watching these bc I will have no less than 100 dogs within the hour). I felt my heartstrings pull and I immediately wanted to show him love. I have brought 2 of these shelter dogs home in the past and treated them like I carried them for 9 months.I’ve given them the best life, full of love and stability. I have watch them transform into the sweetest most loving animals you will ever know. I wasn’t much different when I came into early recovery. I was quick to react, impulsive, and ashamed. I often reacted from a place of fear. I had been in fight or flight mode for so long that I didn’t trust anyone including myself. But I had some very special people at Bethesda that showed me the power of God’s love even when I rejected it. Slowly I started to change how I thought about myself and others and the rock that I had created around my heart was chipped away piece by piece. It took years, but slowly through Gods love and some very patient people around me EVERYTHING CHANGED. I wasn’t a scared puppy anymore.

Beautiful Lauren ❤️ Thank you for sharing that.
